Ferns & Flowers: Kelly & James’ Wedding in Amite

Planning Kelly + James’ wedding was so special for us! Kelly’s parents own a plant nursery in Amite, LA, and their nearby home was the beautiful setting for their wedding. I LOVE planning weddings at a private residence. It brings a level of personality and unique challenges that you can’t get with any other wedding venue. Kelly + James live in Australia, so planning from across the world required flexibility in all of our schedules. In addition, Kelly was expecting their first child, due several months before the wedding date! So planning visits in town around their schedules in Australia and her pregnancy was a unique situation.

When Kelly and I discussed her vision for the wedding she knew she wanted a lot of fresh greenery and ferns! We sourced large ferns from her family’s nursery to line the aisle and hang from the ceiling of the tent. Petals + Stems embellished the ferns with pops of white florals and covered the tables and cake in fresh greenery and florals.

The guests enjoyed a delicious seated dinner from The Lakehouse and danced the night away with music by Calfee Productions.

Special Details: Kelly + James were celebrating with family and friends from around the globe and were already well traveled themselves! For their dinner, the tables were named for each different country they had traveled to together.

The Bride’s uncle provided the antique car which delivered the bride and her parents to the ceremony, and then served as a back drop for the photo booth.

The newlyweds sent a paper lantern into the night sky to commemorate their union, followed by an amazing firework show!
